A Prayer When All Goes Wrong
1 Do you mighty people talk
only to oppose justice?
Don't you ever judge fairly?
2 You are always planning evil,
and you are brutal.
3 You have done wrong and lied
from the day you were born.
4 Your words spread poison
like the bite of a cobra
5 that refuses to listen
to the snake charmer.
6 My enemies are fierce
as lions, Lord God!
Shatter their teeth.
Snatch out their fangs.
7 Make them disappear
like leaking water,
and make their arrows miss.
8 Let them dry up like snails
or be like a child that dies
before seeing the sun.
9 Wipe them out quicker
than a pot can be heated
by setting thorns on fire.
10 Good people will be glad
when they see the wicked
getting what they deserve,
and they will wash their feet
in their enemies' blood.
11 Everyone will say, “It's true!
Good people are rewarded.
God does indeed rule the earth
with justice.”
Mätu Lu ri Takozi'bai Ezane
1 Inye'do nyàta ta'diri ndiya ami 'dimiri'bai?
Inye'do mìpe vure lidri cini ro ndi kadoro ya?
2 Hwa! Nyà gialo taundiro usuna ayani,
ago nyà taoye siomba si 'bädri ya.
3 Lidri undiro ka ugu ŋgakozi oye ṛoni ya endre ro yasi;
ànya eto takozi oye ago koweoga te ṛoni tuse äti ànya be si.
4 Ànya orivoya äṛi be oso äṛi ini ro ronye;
ànya tisiyi bi ànyaro te oso ŋbuŋbu ronye,
5 se eri drî 'dise kyere ini robe ro kote,
ago eri loŋgo oŋgo tetedri'ba tauniekye ro kote.
6 Nyotoŋgo si ànyaro Äye Lu,
miŋgo si kyaṛa ibii kwoi ro, Äye Lu.
7 Mi'ba ànya konaruyi oso gyi kabe udi lozo ronye;
ago ijinyi ànya oso kaŋwa liti dri ronye.
8 Mi'ba ànya ka'doyi oso tosolo'boi se kayibe votore ronye;
ago oso ŋgwa se ätibe avoro se kondre ŋgaeyi kote alona 'do ronye.
9 Teinye ànyari tana uniako, otoga ànya te vuru oso kawà ronye;
ozi kyila ndaro rosi Lu onjana ànya 'da cowa
ànya ka'doyi dri gica lidriidriro owo.
10 Taŋgye'bai a'dona 'da yai'dwesi ondro ànya kondreyi ate takozi'bai eza owo;
ànya abanayi 'da kari takozi'bai ro yasi.
11 Lidri atana 'da ekye: “Endaro ozo päläti taŋgye'bai rote;
Lu orivoya endaro se kani vure 'bädri ro opena.”
