Everyone knows the Easter ending: He is risen! 

But if we slow down and look closely at Holy Week, we discover surprises that defy expectations, flip the script, and leave a mark on history. Everyone is called to pay attention, these moments still speak to us today, in a world that refuses to play by the rules.

1. Palm Sunday — The King Arrives… On a Donkey 

Crowds were waiting for a political king. A warrior. Someone who would overthrow Rome.

Instead, Jesus rolled in humbly, riding a donkey.

Crowd whispers: “Wait… is this our King?”
Bible: “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey.” — Zechariah 9:9 

Surprise: God’s kingdom flips expectations. Real power looks like humility. Sometimes the quiet, unexpected king changes everything.

2. Thursday — The Last Supper & Feet That Shocked Everyone 

Everyone called Him Teacher. Leader. Rabbi.

Then Jesus grabbed a towel. Poured water into a basin.

Peter: “Lord, are you seriously going to wash my feet?”
Jesus: “If I don’t, you have no part with me.” — John 13:8 

Surprise: True leadership looks like service. Humility > Status. Influence comes from heart, not headline.

3. Friday — The Criminal Who Got Paradise 

Two criminals. One mocked. One begged.

Criminal: “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
Jesus: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” — Luke 23:43 

Surprise: Grace can show up at the last second. Past mistakes don’t cancel your future. Even latecomers get a front-row seat to God’s mercy.

4. Friday Night — Peter’s Denial, total flop, later flips 

Peter denied Jesus three times. Total flop.

Jesus: “Peter… do you love me?”
Peter: “Yes, Lord.”
Jesus: “Feed my sheep.” — John 21:17 

Surprise: Failure isn’t final. Even those who stumble can rise to lead. Your comeback can be your greatest story.

5. Saturday — Silence That Feels Heavy 

No crowds. No miracles. Just waiting.

The world thought it was over. Everyone grieved.

Psalm: “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5 

Surprise: God works even when nothing seems to happen. Waiting is not abandonment. Faith grows in the silence.

6. Sunday Morning — Women First Witness the Resurrection 

Society expected men to deliver the big news. God surprised everyone.

Angel: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!” — Luke 24:5–6
Mary Magdalene: “I’ve seen Him! He is alive!”

Surprise: God lifts the overlooked. Voices society dismisses can carry the most important message. Your story matters.

7. Sunday — Life Defies Death 

Even Jesus’ closest friends thought it was the end. Death had the final word.

Bible: “He is not here; he has risen!” — Luke 24:6 

Surprise: God’s power always exceeds human expectation. What seems impossible can become reality. The ending you think is final may just be the beginning of everything.

Why the Unexpected Makes Easter Legendary

• Humble kings over warriors.
• Servant leaders over status seekers.
• Last-minute grace over lifelong perfection.
• Failures turned into leaders.
• Overlooked women breaking history.
• Silence turning into miracle.

Lesson : God rarely plays by the rules we expect. Twists, setbacks, and surprises may be His way of rewriting your story.

This Easter, expect the unexpected. Watch for the surprises God is preparing — they might just change everything.

Leave the stress of the day and any worries in the hands of God. He will give you peace. 

2. Proverbs 3:24 If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

There can be a lot around us in our lives with our home, work, family, stress, worries and fear. Trust that God wants you to have a good sleep. We can face any challenge better if we are well rested.

3. Psalm 23:2-3 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Trust God to lead you to rest, peace, renewed strength and energy. God wants good for us.

4. Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Commit your way to God. When we are led by him, we can let our worries go. Instead of being anxious about what may or may not happen tomorrow, pray to God that his will be done.

5. Psalm 63:5-6 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night

Before you sleep, it is good to take the time to read the Bible and to pray to God. It satisfies our soul.

6. Exodus 33:14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

God is with you. If you don’t know God’s presence, seek him with all your heart. Be at peace in the presence of God.

7. Psalm 116:7 Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.

God is a generous God. May his peace, rest and love be with you in abundance.

Are you stressed, or worried? Take comfort in knowing that there is hope. Don’t give up. These 7 Bible verses are a reminder that you can find hope in God and by reading the Bible.

1. Psalm 71:5 For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.

God is our hope. People may let us down, opportunities may go away, worldly things be lost or destroyed. But can can trust God and put our hope in him.

2. Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

If you are struggling, this is a reminder that God is with you. You are not alone, it is not hopeless.

3. Proverbs 23:18 Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

This is a promise that hope in God is a hope that lasts. God will not let you down. Trust God to lead you into your future.

4. Psalm 119:114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.

God has given us the Bible, his Word. Read it. You can find comfort and encouragement.

5. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

It is thanks to Jesus Christ we can have hope. He came into the world with light, with love, with redemption and salvation.

6. Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ

We are waiting for the second coming of Jesus. It is a promise to trust and have hope in. The day will come.

7. Psalm 71:14 But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.

Every day, put your faith in God, have your hope in him and whatever your situation is, praise God.

You wonder when the pain will stop—the crushing weight of the world’s emptiness. You wonder when you’ll stop picking up the phone only to realize there’s no one to call. You wonder when a song or smell that reminds you of that person won’t clutch at your throat and blind your eyes without warning.

“A single person is missing from you, and the whole world is empty,” as author Joan Didion puts it.

The emptiness can feel like a life sentence. You might feel alone, like no one fully understands your pain.

Jesus understands your suffering—because he suffered too (Isaiah 53:3). After Jesus was born on the earth, he promised to conquer our great enemy—death—forever.

On the cross, Jesus destroyed death by dying for us. Jesus suffered and died for you so that you can live in union with God (1 Peter 3:18). In the Bible, Jesus says he wants to take your suffering and trade it for joy (Matthew 11:28-30). Even when the world feels empty, even when you’re overcome by grief, God can give you a peace “far beyond human understanding” (Philippians 4:7).

That doesn’t mean you won’t still long for your lost loved one. It means that God can help heal the great emptiness you feel in your heart if you tell him about your pain and ask him for peace. Take a moment right now to reflect on these verses about God’s love for you, and then try to tell him how you feel:

God sees your suffering.

You know how troubled I am;

you have kept a record of my tears.

Aren’t they listed in your book? — Psalm 56:8

You can talk to God about your pain.

Trust in God at all times, my people.

Tell him all your troubles,

for he is our refuge. — Psalm 62:8

God is with you in the depths of your anguish.

Even if I go through the deepest darkness,

I will not be afraid, Lord,

for you are with me.

Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me. — Psalm 23:4

God can bring you joy.

He has sent me to comfort all who mourn,

To give to those who mourn in Zion

Joy and gladness instead of grief,

A song of praise instead of sorrow.

They will be like trees

That the Lord himself has planted. —Isaiah 61:2b-3

God can give you peace.

Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid. — John 14:27
